Hundreds of customers in the Indianapolis metro area are without power after a wave of strong storms moved through the region overnight.

AES Indiana said more than 13,500 customers were impacted as the system brought wind gusts of over 50 mph to parts of Marion County. Nearly 1,000 customers were still without power shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the company's power outage map .

According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, a second round of morning showers and thunderstorms will move through Central Indiana, bringing chances of heavy rain, lighting and wind gusts of up to 30 mph.

Temperatures are expected to fall to slightly below-average levels once the system leaves the area before more pleasant weather arrives for the Labor Day holiday.
