The Luca Guadagnino directed 2024 film " Queer " is starting to appear at movie festivals around the world.
It also marks a film debut for Omar Apollo, the Hobart, Indiana, native who recently kicked off the U.S. leg of his "God Said No" tour at White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis.

Who is Omar Apollo?
The 27-year-old pop singer/songwriter hails from Northwest Indiana, where he got his start by uploading his music to SoundCloud and Spotify. His 2022 single, " Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All) ," went viral on TikTok and later became a radio hit. His sophomore album, " God Said No ," was released to widespread critical acclaim.
Apollo, whose parents immigrated from Mexico, recently launched a hot sauce based on a generations-old family recipe called Disha Hot .
Who does Omar Apollo play in 'Queer'?
Not much is known about Apollo's role in the film, but a recent conversation with costar Drew Starkey published in Interview Magazine indicates he plays one of Craig's love interests in the film. Apollo, who is 6-foot-5 and weighed about 200 pounds before he was cast, told Starkey he went on "the soup diet" to lose 20 pounds before filming an intimate scene with Craig.
Apollo told IndyStar he spent 10 days in Rome shooting his part of the film, fulfilling a long-held dream of working with Guadagnino: “(Acting) was in my head, and it is crazy that it’s with him, someone that I really looked up to and I think is a genius and super talented.”
