National discount retailer Burlington opened its downtown Indianapolis location on Friday, the brand's first expansion to the downtown area.

Burlington , formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, opened its doors in the basement of the Claypool Court building at 110 West Washington Street. The store is open Mondays to Saturdays 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Burlington's space previously housed the 20,000-square-foot Rhythm! Discovery Center, an interactive drum and percussion museum run by the Percussive Arts Society, before a pipe burst and flooded the basement unit in early 2023.

Downtown retail: These Indy startups needed a boost. The city stepped in with vacant real estate.

Other Burlington stores in the Indianapolis metro area include locations in Speedway, Plainfield, Castleton and U.S. 31 near Southport. A store at Washington Square Mall closed in 2020 .
