    Former IndyCar Series driver Paul Tracy hit by vehicle while riding bicycle

    Paul Tracy, a former Ind yCar announcer and motorsports driver who placed second in the 2002 Indianapolis 500 , said he was hit by a vehicle on Friday.

    According to Tracy's Instagram account , an SUV struck him while he was riding his bicycle. Tracy said he suffered three broken vertebrae in the lower back and would have to be transferred to a trauma center.

    Tracy has competed in such racing leagues as the Champ Car World Series, the IndyCar Series, and the Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). In 2002, Tracy was second at the Indy 500 to Helio Castroneves. However, it is a result he disagrees with .

    Tracy was also part of the IndyCar broadcast for NBC Sports but left that position after the 2021 season .
