The roof at Lucas Oil Stadium will be open for the Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, according to team owner Jim Irsay.

Irsay noted the window will also be open. The forecast for Indianapolis on Sunday calls for a mainly sunny sky with a high of 73.

During the preseason, the roof was closed for the opener against the Denver Broncos, but not because of the weather. Initially, the roof was reported to be open. However, a mechanical issue stopped that from happening.

The issue was one of the operating system's input/output components which was faulty, according to Monica Whitfield Brase, public information and marketing manager for the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. That malfunction caused the system to relay incorrect information about an issue with the roof, she said.
