The Indianapolis Colts will not have their regular kicker in their Week 1 game against the Houston Texans .

Matt Gay, who suffered a hernia in preseason, was ruled out for Sunday's game. Spencer Shrader, who kicked well for the Colts in preseason, gets the call.

Indianapolis previously ruled out wide receiver Josh Downs , who suffered an ankle injury in preseason. Also inactive are OL Tanor Borolini, QB Sam Ehlinger (third QB), CB Dallis Flowers, OL Blake Freeland and TE Will Mallory.

Rookie Matt Goncalves gets the nod over second-year lineman Freeland at backup tackle, and recently promoted Chris Lammons and Samuel Womack III are favored over Flowers in the defensive backfield.
