Taylor Swift poised to break Beyonce's MTV Video Music Awards record tonight

This week could see Taylor Swift finish with a record-breaking showing at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The pop superstar has a cool dozen nominations this year. With 23 moon men in her possession over the past 25 years, Swift needs only three more to pass Beyonce’s solo-artist record of 25 wins.

Swift may also become the first artist to win the Video of the Year category five times.

Swift's first win came with a maelstrom of controversy in 2009, when Kanye West interrupted her speech telling the crowd, "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!" After the West interruption, Swift performed "You Belong With Me" in front of Radio City Music Hall.

Swift was the biggest winner at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. She went into the night with the most nominations, and left with nine wins including Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

How to watch the 2024 MTV VMAs

MTV will air the VMAs live at 8 p.m. ET. Housed under the Paramount Network, the show will also air on BET, BET Her, CMT, CC, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
