The Indiana Fever conclude the regular season in the nation's capital against the Washington Mystics. The Fever (20-19), who will finish at least .500 for the first time since their last postseason appearance in 2016, are locked in as the No. 6 WNBA playoff seed ( more on that here ).
Record-setting Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell are almost even in scoring for the season, and they both lit it up ( Clark scored 35, Mitchell 30 ) in Indiana's thrilling home finale, a 110-109 win over the Dallas Wings. Mitchell averages 19.6 points on 40.2% 3-point shooting, and Clark 19.5 with 34.1% on 3s. Aliyah Boston adds 14.1 points and 9.0 rebounds, and NaLyssa Smith 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds.
The Mystics (13-25) − who are in a fight with the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot − are led by Ariel Atkins (14.7 points, 1.5 steals), Brittney Sykes (12.5 points), Stefanie Dolson (9.9 points, 47.7% on 3s, 5.1 rebounds), Aaliyah Edwards (7.6 points, 5.6 rebounds) and Julie Vanloo (7.5 points, 4.4 assists).
The Fever are 2-1 against the Mystics this season, with all the matchups played before the Olympic break.
Yes. The Fever are locked in as the No. 6 seed in the 12-team league. Eight teams make the WNBA playoffs.
They will play the No. 3 seed in the first round, and their likely opponent is the Connecticut Sun, though the Minnesota Lynx or Las Vegas Aces remain as possibilities.
