New 2024 election poll shows Donald Trump leads Kamala Harris in Indiana. By how much?

Former President Donald Trump appears on track to easily win Indiana in November despite Vice President Kamala Harris’s unexpected rise to the top of the Democratic presidential ticket this summer, a new poll shows .

Emerson College Polling and The Hill found 57% of likely Hoosier voters in November support Trump’s campaign for the White House this year. About 40% of likely voters support Harris and about 2% are undecided, according to a release .

Emerson College surveyed 1,000 likely voters between September 12-13 and the poll has a margin of error of 3 percentage points. Indiana voters were contacted by text messages and an online survey.

The support for Trump reflects the results of an Emerson College poll from March where the former president had 55% of support from registered voters in Indiana over 34% for President Biden at the time. Just 28% of likely Hoosier voters currently approve of Biden’s job, according to the September poll results released Tuesday.

Trump carried Indiana over Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020 with about 57% of the vote.

The Emerson College poll shows 44% of Indiana voters said the top issue for the 2024 election is the economy.
