INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts might have to get creative at the cornerback position against the Steelers.

Indianapolis starter Kenny Moore II did not practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday, and one of his primary backups, Chris Lammons , has also missed both practices this week due to knee and ankle injuries.

Moore should not be ruled out of Sunday’s game yet. Dealing with a hip injury after a hard collision with Chicago receiver D.J. Moore in the fourth quarter of last week’s win over the Bears, Moore would likely be able to play if he’s able to practice on Friday. Defensive end Laiatu Latu and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner have already played after practicing just once this season.

If Moore cannot go, though, Indianapolis will be thin at cornerback.

Who is Kenny Moore's backup on the Colts depth chart?

Six players have seen at least one snap for the Colts so far this season. Second-year starter JuJu Brents is on injured reserve with a knee injury; the availability of Moore and Lammons remains in doubt. If neither player can go against Pittsburgh, Indianapolis will have just Jaylon Jones, Dallis Flowers and Sam Womack available, along with three players on the practice squad — veteran David Long Jr., rookie Jaylin Simpson and former Jaguar Gregory Junior.

Moore is not the only starter battling injury this week.

Defensive end Kwity Paye, who has played 67.8% of the team’s defensive snaps, sat out his second consecutive practice of the week after suffering a quadriceps injury late on Sunday. Paye was initially optimistic about his status after the game, and he was spotted observing on the practice field on Thursday.

Right tackle Braden Smith, who has battled soreness in his left knee, returned to practice on Thursday after missing on Wednesday; center Ryan Kelly practiced on Wednesday but appeared to be sitting out on Thursday with a wrap on one leg.
