Pacers sign former No. 3 overall pick Jahlil Okafor to training camp contract

Former No. 3 overall draft pick Jahlil Okafor has signed a training camp contract with the Indiana Pacers , The Athletic reported citing his agent.

Okafor hasn't played in the NBA since averaging 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 27 games with Detroit in 2020-21. His best season was his first, averaging 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 53 games with the Sixers in 2015-16. Okafor has never played in more than 59 games in a season.

Okafor is another candidate to fill the No. 3 center spot for the Pacers behind Myles Turner and Isaiah Jackson, though he’d likely start the season with the G-League Mad Ants. The Pacers have also added former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman, who averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 63 games with Detroit last season.
