Joe Flacco is old enough to be Anthony Richardson 's father, but he feels much younger when he's on the field.

The 39-year-old Flacco relieved the injured 22-year-old Richardson on Sunday and led the Indianapolis Colts to a 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flacco completed 16-of-26 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Told by CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabawala that Richardson told her last week that Richardson believed Flacco is "cooler" than he expected, Flacco scoffed.

"He told me his mom is 8 days older than I am, so there's no chance in the world he thinks I'm cool," Flacco said.

Flacco said that game action acts a fountain of youth.

"When you're out here in this environment ... you feel like you're 12 years old," Flacco said.

"This is a little bit of a difference experience," he added of entering the game late in the first quarter with the Colts in the red zone. "It's not the most ideal, when you're trotting onto the field when a guy goes down."

Flacco considered his performance adequate. Indianapolis led 24-10 early in the fourth quarter before hanging on.

"I don't know if everything was clicking super well, but we did enough," he said.

Flacco added that his children attended a Colts game for the first time this season: "I'm sure they'll have a bunch of critiques for me."
