    When is the deadline to vote in Indiana? How to register for the 2024 presidential election

    Time is winding down to register to vote in the Nov. 5, 2024, General Election.

    About 66.5% of Hoosiers are registered to vote, making for one of the lowest showings in the country, according to KKF, the health policy research organization formerly known as The Kaiser Family Foundation.

    Here are key deadlines for Indiana residents to register to vote for the 2024 General Election.

    Indiana 2024 voter registration deadlines

    • In-person at local election office: Oct. 7, close of business. (Certain military voters and their family members may have until noon on Nov. 5. )
    • Online: Oct. 7 (Online registration requires a valid Indiana driver's license or state-issued ID card.)
    • By mail: postmarked by Oct. 7

    Indiana 2024 absentee ballot deadlines

    • Request ballot: Must be received by Oct. 24, 11:59 p.m.
    • Return ballot by mail: Must be received by Nov. 5, close of polls
    • Return ballot in person: Nov. 5, close of polls

    2024 early voting in Indiana

    Early voting (in-person absentee voting) takes occurs Oct. 8 - Nov. 4

    How to check your Indiana voter registration status

    An Indiana resident can check the status of their voter registration at indianavoters.in.gov .
