The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) are back to .500 after a tough start to the 2024 NFL season, but they face a new question entering Week 5 : Who's their quarterback?

Anthony Richardson left their Week 4 game with a hip injury that team officials are watching. Joe Flacco relieved, threw two touchdown passes as the Colts handed the Pittsburgh Steelers their first loss of the season.

The Colts are also watching running back Jonathan Taylor , who suffered a sprained ankle.

Their place on these lists ranges from 13th to 22nd.

NFL power rankings for Indianapolis Colts in Week 5

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News : 21st, up 3 places from last week

The Colts have rebounded defensively the past two weeks to get back to. 500, but their offense still has some finishing concerns with Anthony Richardson (hip) and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) hurting.

Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk : 18th, up 2

Having Joe Flacco behind Anthony Richardson is perhaps the best quarterback move the Colts have made since Andrew Luck retired.

Frank Schwab, Yahoo : 20th, same as last week

It’s not like the Colts are making a QB change, but it’s not a great sign that the Joe Flacco offense on Sunday looked more efficient vs. the Steelers than what Anthony Richardson has been running. If nothing else, the Colts found out they can count on Flacco if the oft-injured Richardson goes down again.

Diante Lee, The Ringer : 13th, up 4

Anthony Richardson took an awkward hit to the hip from safety Minkah Fitzpatrick early in Sunday’s game, and he clearly wasn’t the same player when he tried to return to action. Thankfully, he seems to have avoided any significant damage, and Joe Flacco led the Colts through the game without any backbreaking turnovers. The real story of Indy’s two-game win streak has been its improved run defense. The Colts have allowed just 185 yards on 58 carries the last two weeks, after giving up 474 yards in their first two contests. There will be vulnerabilities that opposing offenses can exploit on the perimeter as a result, but this defense is finally giving itself a fighting chance to control the outcome and stay in the fight in the AFC.

Connor Orr, Sports Illustrated : 15th, up 8

Anthony Richardson is day to day after taking some brutal shots against Pittsburgh on Sunday. And while he could certainly play this weekend — that’s usually what day to day means in injury parlance — is there a value in playing the long game and letting him see how Joe Flacco does it for a week? Again, Richardson is a long, long, long-term play. Why not take some in-season breaks, diversify what you’re showing on film and give Richardson time to get back to full strength?

Matthew Cannata, Pro Football Network : 22nd, up 2

Anthony Richardson suffered a hip injury on Sunday but could play this weekend, which is good news. The bad news — the Colts once again look like a team stuck in NFL purgatory. They’re neither good nor bad — they’re just kinda there.

Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report : 20th, up 1

A wrong path exists with the possibility of keeping Flacco in the lineup just to protect Richardson. The 22-year-old quarterback needs to be on the field. He needs the reps to grow and develop. If he's cleared, he should play.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports : 21st, same

Anthony Richardson's injury is concerning, but Joe Flacco came in and did some good things in beating the Steelers. Two straight victories has them feeling good.

Nate Davis, USA TODAY : 15th, up 5

Sometimes an offense runs better with an experienced backup – and QB1 Anthony Richardson might benefit from some time to heal and watching Joe Flacco execute HC Shane Steichen's attack.

Robert Zeglinski, For The Win : 19th, up 3

Anthony Richardson got hurt, and Joe Flacco threw two touchdown passes against what was the NFL’s best defense in a win. The 2024 season genuinely makes no (expletive) sense.
