INDIANAPOLIS -- The German sports shoe and apparel brand P uma announced its signing of a sponsorship deal with Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton on Tuesday with a 40-second advertisement featuring Haliburton's father, John, as the narrator.

While Tyrese knocks down jump shots in what seems to be an ancient high school gym, John reminds viewers that Tyrese has always had talent, but was also overlooked as a high schooler.

"They told us his jumper wouldn't translate," John says with a laugh. "Really? He ain't no joke. And that's a promise."

The tag line for the ad, which John delivers, is "Made you look."

Along with the advertisement, Puma put out a press release Tuesday morning, noting Haliburton's achievements as a two-time All-Star, All-NBA pick, Olympic gold medalist and NBA assists leader in 2023-24.

"Since day one, we’ve always focused on the next generation of basketball at Puma," Max Staigler, Puma’s global head of basketball said in the press release. "Tyrese is not only defining his own generation, but also is shaping the future of the game for many more to come. We’re extremely grateful for the opportunity to partner with Tyrese to continue working on our disruptive next-gen approach to basketball.”

Haliburton signed a shoe deal with Nike when he was drafted in 2020. Though Nike's sponsorship roster includes some of the biggest names in the basketball and basketball history, Haliburton instantly becomes one of the biggest names on Puma’s. Guards LaMelo Ball, Scoot Henderson and Dennis Schroeder are among their clients along with Breanna Stewart and Jackie Young in the women's game. Puma’s traditionally has had a bigger foothold in soccer and track and field with Neymar and Usain Bolt among its clients.

“I’m super excited to announce that I’ve joined the Puma Family,” Haliburton said in a news release. "I look forward to being a part of their commitment to the next generation of basketball. Puma’s vision and dedication to supporting athletes align perfectly with my goals, and I’m excited to represent the brand on and off the court.”

Haliburton begins a five-year contract with the Pacers this season worth approximately $244.6 million.
