    Indianapolis traffic: Here's what you need to know, expect delays on I-465 and I-65

    INDIANAPOLIS — Expect traffic along westbound and eastbound I-465 between I-65 and US 31 to slow down significantly this week, as the Indiana Department of Transportation announced it will be closing several lanes at night.

    Motorists are warned to expect delays.

    Here’s what to know:

    I-465 closures and traffic changes

    Drivers should expect a double right-lane closure on westbound and eastbound I-465 between I-65 and US 31 on East Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Thursday, Oct. 10. Crews will conduct bridge work and beam deliveries throughout the night.

    The entrance ramp from US 31 southbound to I-465 eastbound will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday.

    There will be single and double right-lane closures on westbound and eastbound I-465 between Bluff Road and Mann Road and westbound and eastbound I-465 between I-70 and Kentucky Avenue through Thursday, Oct. 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction supply delivery and paving work.

    Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 through Monday, Oct. 14, I-465 westbound and eastbound between I-70 and US 31 on East Street will be reduced to a single lane for milling, paving, concrete patching, bridgework and lane-shift operations.

    Most entrance and exit ramps between I-70 and US 31 on East Street will be closed to traffic according to INDOT's announcement .

    I-69 lane closures and traffic changes

    There will be a single right lane closure on southbound and northbound I-69 between Southport Road and Banta Road until Wednesday, Oct. 9. Crews will pave the shoulder from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

    Starting Wednesday night, paving crews will be paving driveway approaches on Belmont Avenue and Winslet Way . Drivers should expect night-time single-lane closures near the I-69 and Southport Road area . Crews will be paving from Wednesday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

    Watch for crews striping the pavement and mowing along I-69 southbound and northbound in Johnson County on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 8 between SR 144 and Fairview Road .

    The speed limit along I-69 between SR 144 and Fairview Road is now 55 mph in Johnson County.

    Notice police along I-465? Here's what it means

    As part of the state's "Clear Path 465" project, Indiana State Police noted that drivers should expect police presence near construction zones along I-465. The high visibility of officers is meant to slow down drivers, allow quick response to incidents on I-465 and address traffic queue issues.
