Injury update on Anthony Richardson: Colts QB practiced Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS — Anthony Richardson practiced Wednesday to open the week and was far less limited than last week in the portion of practice open to the media.

“I can run, I can throw, I can do the stuff I need to do in the offense,” the Colts quarterback said. “We’re just going to take it day by day and see how the rest of the week goes.”

Richardson, who was officially listed as a limited participant, continues to recover from an oblique/hip injury suffered against Pittsburgh, and although he practiced on a limited basis last week, he was not available to play.

Richardson also would not have been the team's emergency quarterback, even though he was seen throwing on the field before Sunday's game.

"We didn't want to chance that," Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said.

Anthony Richardson's injury was initially reported as a hip pointer but the team has designated it as an oblique. The oblique muscles are in the abdomen and involved in rotation and can be affected by planting or pushing off the leg.
