Jeffersonville forward Tre Singleton will play in the Big Ten .

The 6-8 Singleton, who saw his recruitment take off in the spring after a junior year averainge 14.2 points and 7.1 rebounds, committed to Northwestern on Wednesday.

“The thing I liked most about Northwestern is how committed to me they were,” Singleton said Wednesday. “They never recruited over me and were honest with me through the whole process.”

Singleton, rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 72 player in the country in the senior class on the 247Sports composite, took an official visit to Northwestern in early August. He also considered Clemson, Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue and Virginia, before deciding on the Wildcats.

Preseason No. 1? Loaded Jeffersonville sends a message at Charlie Hughes.

Singleton is recovering from a broken bone in his right foot , an injury he suffered during a workout in September. Jeffersonville coach Sherron Wilkerson said in late September that Singleton should be back “in eight to 12 weeks depending on how quickly he heals.”

With his college decision out of the way, Singleton has big goals for his himself and his team ahead. Jeffersonville returns the core of a team that finished 20-8 last season and was just a one-point loss to Ben Davis from reaching the Class 4A state championship. Senior guard Michael Cooper and P.J. Douglas are both committed to Wright State.
