While you’re at Spencer Berry Farm, you can also pick up rhubarb in the market for your perfect strawberry rhubarb pie — or save yourself the baking trouble and buy a frozen pie to take home.

What’s much sweeter than buying your berries from the supermarket? Picking them yourself. It’s u-pick season at farms across central Indiana, so we’ve put together a list of where you can find the juiciest strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

    Waterman’s Family Farm | 7010 E. Raymond St., Indianapolis
This farm is opening at the end of May — just in time for its annual Strawberry Festival, which runs Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9. The festival will feature 20+ arts and craft vendors, delicious food, midway rides and games, and u-pick strawberries galore. After the festival, strawberries are expected to remain available through the end of June.

Pro tip: Plan your berry picking adventure for early in the day, before exposed farm fields get too hot.

Driving Wind Farm | 6410 Michigan Rd., Indianapolis
Driving Wind opened to the public in 2011 and is expanding its crop selection every year. This season, you can expect strawberry picking opportunities in June and blueberries + blackberries from late June into August.

    Spencer Berry Farm | 7177 E. 161st St., Noblesville
This Noblesville favorite says it’s currently seeing its best strawberry crop in 40 years. They’ll most likely be picked over in the next two weeks, so hurry over to get the best berries — or visit for red raspberry picking beginning around mid-June or grapes beginning around mid-August.
