    UPDATE: State Police identify victims killed in Clay crash

    UPDATE AT 9 P.M. 10-13-2024: In an update from the New York State Police, they confirm new details about the crash.

    State Police say 58-year-old Dawn Brown and 72-year-old Michael Paetow died in the crash .

    The police investigation found that a 2014 Ford Mustang was driving north on County Route 57, speeding through a red light at the intersection when they hit a 2016 Ford Escape, driving west on State Route 31.

    As a result of the crash, the Ford Escape flipped and hit a utility pole.

    The single occupant of the Mustang was 72-year-old Michael Paetow, from Liverpool, who was taken to Upstate University Hospital and pronounced dead.

    The driver of the Escape, 26-year-old Shaylee Allen, from Tully, and an 11-month-old back passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries .

    The front passenger, 58-year-old Dawn Brown, from Syracuse was taken to Upstate University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

    UPDATE AT 2 P.M. 10-13-2024: In an update from the New York State Police, they said that this crash was a two-car accident at the corner of State Route 31 and County Route 57 (Oswego Road) in the Town of Clay.

    The investigation is currently ongoing, and State Police confirm that two people have died as a result of the accident.

    State Police are currently on the scene and are asking drivers to avoid the area. The estimated time of closure will be three to four hours.

    CLAY N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert drivers of a serious accident closing down the roads in the Route 57 and Route 31 corridor in the Town of Clay.

    On Sunday, October 13 around 1 p.m. the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office took to its Facebook account to announce this traffic alert.

    In the post, they ask drivers to plan routes around this closure while the intersection remains closed.
