KIRKLAND, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Hamilton College student faces a felony harassment charge after they wrote anti-Semitic remarks on art canvasses over the weekend.

New York State Police responded to Hamilton College at approximately 4:20 pm on Friday, October 11 after receiving a report of anti-Semitic remarks on canvasses on campus. Several interviews were conducted and video surveillance was reviewed. A suspect was developed soon after — identified as 19-year-old Adyn Brenden of South Dakota.

On Saturday, police were able to locate Brenden at his dorm room. He agreed to speak with State Police and ultimately admitted to posting the remarks.

He was then taken into custody without further incident, and transported to the State Police station in Marcy. Brenden was ultimately charged with:

    • first-degree Aggravated Harassment, a Class E Felony.

Brenden was issued an appearance ticket, and will appear in the Town of Kirkland Court on Tuesday, October 15. Hamilton College has also suspended Brenden from campus, pending a hearing for his dismissal. New York State Police say that there is no threat against students or faculty at the college.
