    One treated for minor injuries after alleged car theft in Evans Mills

    EVANS MILLS, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 44-year-old Evans Mills man is facing charges after driving away with a vehicle he allegedly took while the vehicle owner’s daughter was on the hood.

    New York State Police responded to the area of North Main St, village of Evans Mills for a stolen vehicle complaint around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13.

    Authorities stated that the daughter of vehicle owner attempted to prevent Gregory Hess from stealing a 2012 Chevrolet Impala.

    The daughter ended up on the hood of the vehicle. Hess aggressively sped up and began swerving back and forth in an attempt get the female to fall off. They traveled a couple hundred yards before she eventually fell off, where she almost struck her head on the pavement.

    The victim allegedly sustained some minor road rash on her side and was evaluated and cleared on-scene by emergency personnel.

    Hess was located and eventually taken into custody. He was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree reckless endangerment and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

    According to the release from state police on Monday, Hess was awaiting in Jefferson County CAP Court.
