INLET, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The New York State Department of Transportation has issued a Travel Advisory for the North Country town of Inlet.

On Wednesday, October 16th, the DOT announced that State Route 28 in the town of Inlet will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning on Monday, October 21. The lane reduction will help facilitate the installation of a retaining wall. The affected stretch of road will be controlled by temporary traffic signals between Park Road and Jasper Day Trail.

The lane reduction will run for the next four weeks, according to the state DOT.

Motorists should expect to encounter a temporary three-colored traffic signal and should be prepared to stop. The sidewalk will also be closed in the immediate area of the construction of the retaining wall. However, accommodations will be made for pedestrians while work is being done.

Motorists are urged to slow down in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. Two or more convictions may result in the suspension of the offender’s license.

For more information on this or any other work around the Mohawk Valley, motorists are encouraged to call 511, visit the website at 511ny.org or download the free 511NY mobile app.
