PITTSFIELD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Pittsfield man faces several assault and animal cruelty charges after being arrested by Otsego County Sheriffs on Thursday.

Investigations by Otsego County Sheriffs found that 37-year-old Tyrell Adams allegedly subjected minors to persistent sexual abuse for several years. Further investigation found that in the vicinity of children, Adams killed a family pet for no legitimate purpose.

An order of protection had been issued for several parties against Adams by the Otsego County Family Court. However, it was found that on Friday, October 11, Adams sent Facebook messages to one of the protected parties.

Otsego County Sheriffs located Adams on Thursday, October 17, and arrested him without further incident. Adams was taken to the Otsego County Correctional Facility in Cooperstown for processing and lodging as he awaited centralized arraignment.

    Adams is being charged with:

    • two counts of first-degree Sexual Abuse, a Class D Violent Felony,
    • third-degree Sexual Abuse, a Class B Misdemeanor,
    • Forcible Touching, a Class A Misdemeanor,
    • three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor,
    • Animal Cruelty, an undisclosed felony, and
    • second-degree Criminal Contempt, a Class A Misdemeanor.

After consultation, the Otsego County District Attorney’s office has provided a recommendation for Adams of $10,000 cash or credit card bail or $100,000 surety bond on the initial investigation, plus another $1,000 cash bail for the Criminal Contempt charge.

Otsego County Sheriffs were assisted in the investigation by Otsego County Child Protective Services and the Otsego County Child Advocacy Center.

no bail it should be if he’s that abusive and killed the dog. He’s able to go back there and kill a human.
