AP’s Meyer, Garner get silver at Bishop meet

Aransas Pass’ Trenton Meyer and Kevin Garner won silver medals in their respective weight classes at the George Luna Memorial Outdoor Powerlifting Classic in Bishop on Feb. 9.

Meyer was runner-up in the 275-pound weight class with a squat of 415, bench press of 315, and deadlift of 355 for a total of 1,085.

Garner took second place in the super heavyweight class by squatting 475, bench pressing 305, and deadlifting 340 for a composite of 1,120.

The Panthers’ Travis Ochoa was third in the 165 weight class with a total of 1,200 after squatting 450, bench pressing 335, and deadlifting 415.

Aransas Pass’ Aaden Murphy placed fifth in the 242 weight class with a total of 915.
