Mustangs win two district matches

Ingleside’s Jonathon Ramirez had two goals and Wade Johnson made 16 saves to lead the Mustangs to a 5-4 win over the Rockport-Fulton Pirates in a District 29-4A match on Feb. 20 in Ingleside.

The victory put the Mustangs at 9-6 overall and 5-4 in district play. Rockport-Fulton fell to 6-6 and 6-3.

Ingleside also had goals from Brandon Hernandez, Alex Granados, and Preston Olivarez.

Tyler Hoskins topped the Mustangs in assists with three. Hernandez and Granados each had one.

Ramirez tallied 37 steals. Granados had 14 and Nick Olivarez recorded 13. Eagan Privett, Lino Solis, and Anthonie Cordova each had 11.

Mustangs blank Calallen

Lino Solis recorded 13 saves and registered a shutout in the Ingleside Mustangs’ 5-0 District 29-4A win over the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats on Feb. 15 in Ingleside.

Tyler Hoskins had two goals for the Mustangs while teammates Brandon Hernandez, Jonathon Ramirez, and Sebastian Granados each added one.

Hernandez and Ramirez each had two assists. Preston Olivarez set up Ingleside’s other goal.

Defensively, Ramirez had 21 steals, Cesar Rodriguez added 16, and Alex Granados recorded 13.
