Amid a push to increase the number of people working in SoCal's hospitality industry ahead of multiple major events coming in the near future, hundreds of people lined up in Inglewood on Tuesday to attend the Hospitality Training Academy's job fair at the soon-to-open Intuit Dome.

KNX News' Pete Demetriou spoke with Jaime Cedano, one of the HTA administrators. Cedano said that when they train someone to be a chef, prep cook, bartender, or other related placement, the jobs they end up with pay a living wage.

HTA works with Unite HERE Local 11 , providing them with a union pipeline through which to send trainees. Cedano said they prefer not to discuss specific wages, but "people with a previous skill can start at 20 plus dollars an hour...[and] with a benefit package, some people are making over $30 an hour."

Cedano says the training placement push focuses on the next five years, with the Super Bowl, World Cup, and even more on the horizon for the region.

"We're actually a little behind in training and hiring folks for the Olympics in 2028 here in L.A. " Cedano said. Until then, in the short term, those who gain employment will travel from venue to venue, working at sporting and entertainment events that happen year-round.
