An ex-con has been sentenced to 32 years in state prison for rapper Slim 400's killing in Inglewood in December 2021, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

Michael Lanell Terry, 35, pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter and admitted that he used a firearm and had a prior felony strike conviction, according to the DA's office.

Terry shot the rapper -- whose real name was Vincent Cohran Jr. -- as the two men struggled in the victim's front yard during the early morning hours of Dec. 8, 2021, the DA's office said.

Cohran died that day at a hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest and had also suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen, according to records from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner.

Terry was arrested by the Inglewood Police Department in June 2022 and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.

Co-defendant Tamra Lynn Bell, 44, pleaded guilty earlier to a felony count of accessory after the fact and is awaiting sentencing next Jan. 15, according to the DA's office.

According to TMZ, the rapper was born to military parents in Germany, moved to Los Angeles as a young child and was raised in Compton. The rapper was later discovered and signed by the now-defunct Pu$haz Ink music label -- the same one made popular by YG and DJ Mustard.

In a statement, District Attorney George Gascón said, "Our hearts go out to the families of Mr. Cohran, an artist in the Los Angeles community who was taken far too soon by a tragic act of gun violence."
