Psych evaluation: Woman accused of killing child is competent to stand trial
A Southfield woman accused of killing her friend’s young child in Detroit has been found to be competent to stand trial, according to a recent competency evaluation. Iesha Harris, 30, faces charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of 3-year-old Harmoni Henderson. It’s alleged Harris fatally assaulted the child while babysitting her at a home in the 15700 block of Southfield Road. The child was privately transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on March 17, officials said.

A proposal to give veterans free access to state parks failed to make Michigan’s budget. The initiative would’ve been funded by changing how Michigan residents each year renew their state recreation passport, which grants vehicle access to 103 state parks along with boat launches and other state-managed recreation facilities.
