Elite 347 sends 5 track stars to regionals

Five Elite 347 Track and Field team tracksters will go north to Colorado to compete in the annual USATF Region 10 Junior Olympic Championships.

The track and field participants from Maricopa will face the highest level of competition their club can achieve, said Kaleena Morales, a team parent.

“Our athletes will be going to regionals in Colorado next month, basically like their Olympics,” Morales said. “This is a huge achievement for them.”

The championship event will run July 13 to 14.

The event takes place in Aurora, a suburb of Denver.

Athletes competing are:

• Jameko Gipson Jr., javelin
• Amir McNeal, 400-meter
• Kendrick Reynolds, long jump and 200-meter
• Danny Todachine, shotput and javelin
• Reign Amatrading, long jump and 400-meter
