UPDATE Aug. 15, 7:37 p.m.: One driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Chandler Regional Hospital as a precaution, according to city spokesperson Quinn Konold.

ORIGINAL Aug. 15, 1:43 p.m.: If you ran into traffic on North John Wayne Parkway or your Amazon package was delayed today, here’s why.

Maricopa and Ak-Chin police responded to a crash in the southbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway at West Juan Street at 1:04 p.m.

Reporters on the scene saw an electric Amazon truck had crashed and sustained damage to its front bumper, and airbags deployed in a Lexus sedan with damage to its driver and passenger sides.

Maricopa Police Sgt. Chance Jordan pulled a broken street sign out of the road.

At least one woman was loaded into an ambulance and transported to a hospital, but the extent of her injuries or if anyone else was injured was unknown at time of publishing.

Southbound traffic on John Wayne Parkway was blocked and rerouted on Juan Street.
