A foster fail is when someone ends up adopting the cat, dog, or other pet they agreed to foster. You might be wondering, “In what universe is this considered a fail?” In the end, it just means that a pet’s foster parent couldn’t bring themself to say good-bye!

One family on social media shared the sweetest video about how they ended up keeping their foster dog, Bentley. However, the parents decided to play a prank on their kids before making the official announcement. Instead of admitting to their foster fail, Mom and Dad told their two daughters that their sweet dog had been adopted by a family.

As soon as her parents broke the “news,” the younger of the two girls started sobbing. Clearly, it was time to reveal the truth! Unfortunately, it took a while for the little girl to calm down enough for her parents to explain.

Mom thought that it would be sweet to show her daughter the adoption paperwork, which of course had their family’s name on it. However, the child was far too upset to even look at the documents. Eventually, her older sister stepped in and read the text out loud. When the weeping little girl realized that Bentley wasn’t going anywhere, she started crying with joy instead!

“We adopted our first foster,” Mom wrote in her caption on social media. “We don’t do anything simple because that wouldn’t be memorable. My little was begging for a week to keep Bentley because he fit into our home so perfect. We’re all over the moon to have him in his forever home.”

Commenters loved seeing this family’s “foster fail” video revealing that they were going to adopt their dog. Many users could relate to the little girl’s reaction when she thought Bentley was leaving!
