“Selfless” Teen Brother Fills In For Little Sister’s Father-Daughter Dance & Melts Hearts

A 14-year-old boy’s devotion to his little sister is melting hearts on social media.

Patrice Thompson shared a video of one of her proudest parenting moments with her Instagram followers last month. It shows her son, Micah, dancing with his 6-year-old sister, Harper, during a studio’s annual summer showcase.

The showcase always includes a father-daughter dance. But this year, Harper’s father couldn’t make it because of a work obligation. So Micah stepped up and took his place.

“Core memory for the team today,” Patrice captioned. “I don’t know if he knows what an impact he’s making as her big brother, but she’ll never forget this .”

The clip shows Harper and Micah doing a choreographed dance during a “Barbie and Ken” themed recital. Both siblings are beaming through the production, and it’s obvious that Micah is more than happy to show up for his little sister.

Within a month, the now- viral video earned nearly 17 million teary-eyed views.

“Honestly, I am so proud. But at the same time, not super surprised because that’s the young man he is!” Patrice told Newsweek . “Most 14-year-old boys would rather do anything else than perform a routine in front of their peers and during summer when he could be off with friends, but he chose to give up time to support her so she didn’t feel left out.”

Patrice said she and her children call their family “a team,” and Micah’s willingness to support Harper showed that “he truly understands the meaning of being selfless.”

“I’m really proud of him and his heart,” she added. “And I’m proud of her for getting up there with her brother. I know being the only one without a dad up there was tough, but the studio and her brother were so sweet in encouraging her through it!”
