Thomas Rhett Shares The Hard Truths About His Marriage So “Younger People” Don’t “Make The Same Mistakes”

Marriage isn’t easy. No matter how much you love someone, challenges will inevitably arise in a long-term relationship. Some of them are easy to overcome, while others take a lot of time, work, and reflection. Newly married couples often look to relationship veterans for advice on how to make their marriage last and keep the love alive.

Country Star Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins , both 34, have known one another since they were kids. And even though they’ve been married for 11 years, it hasn’t always been easy. Thomas wrote about their marriage in his memoir, Live in Love, and wrote songs about his wife for his upcoming album, About a Woman.

Thomas Rhett Is In The Marriage For The Long Haul

Even though life was hard, there was no quitting.

“Giving up was not an option. That thought has never crossed my mind or Lauren’s. With me being a fixer and Lauren being stubborn, we made it work. The easiest thing to do is quit. But when you don’t and you keep grinding it out, you’ll inevitably become stronger.”

Thomas added the best advice he can give a couple is always to have “Complete honesty at all costs. Darkness cannot live where the light is.”
