Christina Applegate Gives An Emotional Tribute To “Married… With Children” Co-Star Ed O’Neill

Sometimes, the chemistry between stars on screen is just as real when they are off-screen. That is the case of Christina Applegate and her co-star Ed O’Neill. The Married… With Children actress had Ed on her podcast, and the star opened up and gave an emotional tribute to her TV dad.

Applegate co-hosts a podcast called MeSsy with Jamie-Lynn Sigler. While the podcast mainly focuses on both women’s multiple sclerosis diagnoses, they occasionally invite special guests. Who could be more special than her Married… With Children co-star and TV dad, Ed O’Neil?

The episode was released on August 27, and Christina Applegate started off by saying, “I don’t even know how to explain this person.” From there, Parade shared her glowing review of her co-star, Ed O’Neill. Christina said, “He raised me, so if you don’t like anything about me, it’s his fault. If you do like anything about me, also his fault.”

She continued, “Years and years of my life spent with this man, and he’s an incredible actor, he’s an incredible human being.”

“ Married… With Kids” Co-Stars Meet Again

In the sitcom, Ed O’Neill played Al, and Applegate played his daughter Kelly. While Applegate admitted that she initially thought the show had too much “toilet humor” she decided to join the cast. She credits her Married… With Children co-star for being one of the people who “taught” her how to deliver comedic elements in a performance.

In the same podcast, Christina Applegate tells Ed O’Neill, “I think that nobody could have played Al but you.” She claims that his “rough around the edges” vibe helped him successfully play his character. On the podcast, Christina’s co-host also chimes in. She shares how she thinks that Ed did a great job in his role as well. He took a role that could have been seen as “aggressive” and added his own “sensitivity” to it.
