It is sometimes hard to believe Princess Diana has been gone for 27 years. It is even harder to comprehend that she was only on this earth for 36 years. During that short time, she made a powerful impact on millions. People remember Diana for her beauty, grace, and kindness to her family and total strangers. During her 15 years as a royal, Diana devoted herself to making the world a better place and continued that work until her untimely death on August 31, 1997.

While Diana appeared demure and stately in public, she seemed to have a laidback and funny side in her more private life. According to her former hairstylist, Richard Dalton, Diana had a wicked sense of humor that often left him in stitches.

Princess Diana Was A Prankster At Heart

In his new book, It’s All About The Hair-My Decade With Diana , Richard talks about his close friendship with the Princess of Wales and how he always had to be on his toes in her company. In a recent interview with People, he shared one of Diana’s favorite pranks.

“She always had plastic vomit or plastic dog poop in her bag to place on people’s seats when we traveled on long flights. She was hysterically funny and loved playing jokes on all of us,” according to Richard.

Diana’s dear friend, Renae Plant, put Richard’s memories together in a 444-page book. She added that her friend yearned to be like those who loved her.

“I do find the humorous side of Diana to be very sweet,” she told People . “She just wanted to be ‘normal’ and was just like the rest of us.”

Richard added that he hoped the book would remind the world of how “wonderful” Diana was.

“I hope it inspires them to be kind and treat others with compassion, just like she did while she was alive.”
