Silfab Solar, a Toronto-based solar panel manufacturer, is creating a buzz in the renewable energy sector with its new, innovative solar panels called n-type bifacial modules.

These advanced panels are designed to improve the efficiency and power output of large solar installations, marking a significant advancement in solar technology.

Silfab offers these panels with three different power output options, ranging from 620 Watts to 640 Watts. Notably, the Silfab Utility NTC 620-640 XL bifacial panels are notable for their high efficiency rating.

“Silfab Utility NTC bifacial panels utilize next-generation N-type solar cells and have a nearly 23 percent efficiency rating,” says the company.

    Unmatched efficiency and performance

These new modules can produce more energy per square foot compared to many standard solar panels. This makes them perfect for maximizing energy output in large solar farms and utility-scale projects.

Additionally, these panels are equipped with advanced shade tolerance technology. This ensures that they perform well even when part of the panel is shaded or in conditions with low light. It is crucial for large solar installations that may experience shading from clouds or nearby structures.

This variety of panels allows Silfab to customize solar installations to meet specific energy requirements.

The panels’ power conversion efficiency ranges from 22.20% to 22.92%, with a temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C, ensuring they maintain high performance across various weather conditions.

“Silfab Utility NTC boast significantly higher efficiency levels than standard conventional solar panels through better LCOE (levelized cost of electricity), requiring fewer solar panels and delivering unmatched efficiency and generating more power over the solar system’s life,” asserted the company.

    Durability is on charts

The panels are built to be durable, with an IP68 enclosure rating that provides excellent protection against dust and water.

They feature 3.2 mm anti-reflection front glass, which reduces light reflection, allowing more sunlight to reach the solar cells and generate more energy.

Moreover, the transparent backsheet allows sunlight to enter from both sides, enhancing energy capture, especially in configurations where light reflects off the ground or nearby surfaces.

    Comprehensive lifespan

Silfab offers strong guarantees for their panels: a 30-year linear power output warranty and a 25-year product warranty. Interestingly, the panels maintain at least 89.3% of their initial yield.

“The Silfab Utility series is backed by the most comprehensive 25-year product and 30-year linear performance warranty,” highlighted the company.

“The module features a unique passivation layer that protects against moisture, UV, temperature, and other environmental factors, ensuring prolonged lifespan.”

Meanwhile, Silfab is expanding its manufacturing with a new factory set to equip the company with 1 GW (gigawatt) of domestic cell production capacity and an additional 1.3 GW of module capacity within the US.
