A 21-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Inverness last weekend has been identified, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said.

Emanuel Jimenez Romero, of Santa Rosa, died Sunday during a crash that occurred in the 16000 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard between Pierce Point and Mount Vision roads.

Deputies said a report was made to 911 at 2:08 p.m. about a vehicle collision involving injuries that took place in Inverness, an unincorporated community in western Marin County.

A motorcyclist riding a 2007 Yamaha YZF R6 sport had been traveling east on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard allegedly at a high rate of speed, deputies said.

The motorcyclist was crossing over the double yellow striped divider lines in an attempt to pass slower-moving traffic when he collided head-on with a 2014 Honda Odyssey minivan traveling west.

The motorcycle rider, Jimenez Romero, was ejected from his bike and suffered significant traumatic injuries and ultimately came to a stop in the roadway.

Deputies said medical aid was provided to the man by bystanders until first responders arrived on the scene. However, he did not respond to the treatment and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:34 p.m.
