Northern California forecast: Sierra air quality issues, Valley heat Thursday
Smoke from the Park Fire created poor air quality conditions above 3000 feet on Wednesday afternoon. More of the same is expected on Thursday. Light winds around the fire are beneficial for fire crews, but the lack of a breeze is allowing that smoke to settle into lower elevations at night. Those planning to be outdoors in the Sierra, including the Tahoe region, should check air quality conditions first. An AQI reading of 150 or higher indicates that air pollution could be hazardous for people with chronic health issues.
