Previewing the NWSLMS Labor Day Spectacular at Hermiston
Event: The “Bonney’s TYM Trailers Labor Day Spectacular 125” will take place on Sunday September 1st. It is part of a two-day event for the Northwest Super Late Model Series presented by RaceCals (NWSLMS), with the Tri-State Challenge Series Pro Late Models headlining on Saturday. It will pay a minimum of $4,000-to-win on Hermiston Raceway’s (OR) 3/8-mile asphalt oval. Hermiston will host the series for the 13th time. It will be Round #8 of 10 for the series, in its 11th season of operation.
PSD addresses 2025 graduation date change
PENDLETON – (News release from the Pendleton School District) For years, Pendleton High School’s Graduation has been on the first Saturday after Memorial Day. However, the Pendleton School District has announced that in spring 2025, that will change. The OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association) has changed the 2025 and 2026 spring sports calendar for the State Track Championships and the Baseball and Softball playoffs. All three of these athletic competitions are now scheduled on the Friday and Saturday after Memorial Day. Because of this change by OSAA, the district has decided to change PHS Graduation to the afternoon of the first Sunday after Memorial Day. For the Class of 2025, graduation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Pendleton Library Collaborates for “Meet an Air Traffic Controller”
Kids and parents can learn how air traffic control works through an interactive presentation at the Pendleton Public Library on Sept. 7. Eastern Oregon Regional Airport Director Dan Bandel, a former air traffic controller, will lead the interactive presentation into how things happen behind-the-scenes at an airport. There will be opportunities for audience participation to learn about the role management, control towers, pilots, and ground control work at an active airport. Bandel will also answer questions and share some of his favorite parts of the job.
Hermiston City Council votes to reduce food truck restrictions
HERMISTON, Ore. — More food trucks may be coming to the City of Hermiston. The Hermiston City Council voted Monday night to update the city’s mobile food vendor ordinance, reducing restrictions. The existing food truck regulations, before this, went back to 2013.
