Oscoda Township Man Convicted for Threatening Iosco County Prosecutor
An Oscoda Township man has been convicted for threatening his former landlord, who is also the Iosco County Prosecutor, as per reports by the Michigan Office of Attorney General. Dominque Simo, age 40, was found guilty by an Iosco County jury on a charge of malicious use of a telecommunications device. This felony could lead to a maximum sentence of six months in jail or a fine of $1,000. According to WNEM, sentencing decisions have yet to be announced, but the state noted its intent to seek a sentence that includes mandated mental health treatment.

Court records show an Iosco County jury found 40-year-old Dominque Simo guilty of one count of malicious use of a telecommunications device for threatening Iosco County Prosecuting Attorney James A. Bacarella.

A jury in Ioscoa county found an Oscoda man guilty last Friday of making a threatening phone call to the Iosco County Prosecuting Attorney. On February 11, 40-year-old Dominique Simo called James Bacarella and told him if he didn’t show up at Simo’s home in 28 minutes, Bacarella would deeply reret it. The threat follows another threat Simo made to Bacarella in 2023 when Simo was a tenant at one of Bacarella’s properties. Simo threatened to shoot the man, according to court documents. With the previous threat of gun violence, Simo was arrested after maing the phone call.
