Iowa receiver Kaleb Brown charged with DUI

The Iowa football program has been fortunate to avoid off the field distractions in recent years. That changed on Monday when KCJJ Radio reported that Kaleb Brown was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated early Sunday morning.

Brown transferred from Ohio State last spring and is entering his junior year of college. The 5-foot-10 and 187 pound wide receiver didn’t catch a pass until the ninth game of the season when he hauled in a 23 yard pass from Deacon Hill against Northwestern.

The rest of the season he was more active in the offensive game plan. He caught 22 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown. He also had nine rushing attempts for 54 yards. This spring, Brown was listed as one of Iowa’s starting wide receivers.

Kirk Ferentz has typically issued a one game suspension in the past for these type of incidents. The Iowa head coach is expected to issue a statement at some point on Monday.
