The nearly 500 boats involved in this year’s MR340 continue to make their way through the region Wednesday morning, with many paddlers and their support crews making stops along the way.

Several support crews checked in with their boats as they approached the official race checkpoint in Waverly. Dean Manternach of Iowa City was awaiting the arrival of his son-in-law’s tandem boat “Adventure Club Racing Division” when he visited with KMMO News. He says they’re hoping to make it to St Charles this year after last year’s race ended early.

Stops in Glasgow and Miami are serving breakfast Wednesday morning for MR340 participants. The race runs through Friday.
