If you're ever in Waterloo, Iowa, and craving some hearty, comforting food, Jameson's Public House should be on your list. My visit there was a delightful journey through some unique dishes. I started with Jameson's hamballs, a must-try appetizer that sets the tone for what's to come. For the main course, the shepherd's pie was a warm, satisfying choice, perfectly cooked and seasoned. And if you have room for dessert, their bread pudding is a sweet finish to a great meal.
However, not all experiences were as pleasant. While the atmosphere was lively, especially with live music and friendly bar staff, some dishes like the chicken pot pie and a burger had disappointing moments, lacking in flavor or having an odd taste. It's probably best to stick to their appetizers and some of their standout entrees.
Despite a few hiccups, the overall vibe of Jameson's Public House, coupled with their quick service and the effort to keep your glass full, makes it a spot worth checking out, especially during events like the Irish fest. Just be selective with your menu choices!
