WISE COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Members of the Iowa Park community are mourning the loss of one of their own after a fatal crash in Wise County early Thursday morning.
According to Sgt. Tony De La Cerda with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at around 3:50 a.m. on US 287, just inside the Wise County line and south of Sunset.
LOCAL NEWS: Charlie family rebuilding after ‘baffling’ fire Sgt. De La Cerda said an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on US 287 when it overturned, blocking the southbound lanes. He said a 2014 Ford F-150 struck the trailer.
The driver of the pickup, Logan Ray Churchwell, 33, of Iowa Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a Facebook post on Thursday , officials with the Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce asked the community to “pray hard” for the Churchwell family.
“Our selfless friend and Treasurer of the Board of Directors, M’Lainey, tragically lost her servant-hearted, loyal, loving best friend and husband,” the Facebook post said . “She is now tasked with raising two beautiful daughters without the man that loved them all so well.”
A Meal Train has been set up for community members to support the Churchwell family. Those interested in making a financial donation to the Churchwell family can send money on Venmo to the username @MLaineyC.
