IOWA PARK ( KFDX/KJTL ) — An Iowa Park man with numerous prior arrests and convictions has been jailed after leading officers on a high-speed motorcycle chase going the wrong way on U.S. 287.

Christopher Via has been charged with stealing a sport motorcycle and evading officers on June 29, 2024.

An Iowa Park police officer was responding to a house on North Victoria on a report of an assault and said as he arrived, he saw Via leaving that address at a high rate of speed down the alley on a “crotch rocket.”

He began pursuit and said Via fled down streets in the wrong lanes and got onto southbound U.S. 287, going north at speeds of 120 miles an hour.

He said Via then crossed over into the northbound lanes and exited at Harmony Road, lost control and crashed into the ditch.

He was arrested, and a records search showed the motorcycle was reported stolen in Wichita Falls on June 14.

Via’s numerous convictions include one for robbery, three for burglary, one for evading, one for vehicle theft, two for theft and one for organized criminal activity.
