Forecast: More Heat, Then a Cooldown

    By Jason Parkin,

We’ve got another warm overnight ahead. A stationary front is parked to our north, and we could see a few storms in far northern Iowa both tonight and tomorrow night as the following images illustrate. Most of us in the viewing area will stay dry.

Severe chances are very slim this week, as shown in the SPC’s Day 1 outlook above and Colorado State’s severe algorithm output below. In fact, rain will be hard to come by as well.

The following precipitation graphic takes us through Thursday evening, with only northeast Iowa seeing appreciable rainfall during that time.

Highs for the week and the 6-to-10 and 8-to-14-day outlooks follow. It appears we’ll see a cooling trend as we head toward the Iowa State Fair.
