NASCAR strips Austin Dillon of playoff berth after he wrecked Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin for win at Richmond
Austin Dillon’s no longer in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. NASCAR said Wednesday that Dillon would be allowed to keep the win from Sunday’s race at Richmond but wouldn’t be able to use that win to qualify for the playoffs. Dillon crashed both Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin on the last lap in his efforts to make the postseason in NASCAR’s win-and-in playoff format.

A security video caught a man trying to kidnap a 7-year-old girl from a Sterling Heights park on Tuesday. The suspect grabbed the child off her bike and carried her to his car before a bystander stepped in and stopped him.
Larson Omegabots encourage team building through robotics
TROY — Middle schoolers with an interest in robotics can work together and build their skills through the Omegabots robotics team at Larson Middle School. The Omegabots, formed in 2016, are one of the many robotics programs available through the Troy School District. Most of the programs are led and supported by parent volunteers.

Man arraigned for allegedly torturing, imprisoning woman
MOUNT CLEMENS — A man has been arraigned in connection with the alleged months-long imprisonment and torture of a woman in Clinton Township. Darren John Dawson, 34, allegedly kept a 58-year-old woman in his Clinton Township apartment from November 2023 to April 2024 over a drug debt, according to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s office. Dawson allegedly stole the woman’s Social Security money and food stamps.
