    David Conrad attended the graduation ceremony at Iredell Independent School District on Friday, May 25, and presented a VFW scholarship in memory of his three brothers.

    The $1,000 scholarship was proudly presented to Payton Murphy, Valedictorian of the 2024 graduating class from Iredell High School.

    This scholarship is named the Brothers Memorial Scholarship from VFW post 8553 in Clifton.

    Clarence L Conrad served in the U. S. Army from 1942-46. Sargent Conrad received the Silver Star award for bravery in action in Germany during WWII.

    Victor H. Conrad served in the Air Force from 1942-46 as a radio repairman.

    Erwin L Conrad served his country in Korea from 1951-52 in the US Army.

    David A Conrad served in the U. S. Army of Occupation WWII in Germany from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Anti-Aircraft Radar Unit. He was discharged from the Reserves in 1962.

    TheVFWscholarship recipient is judged on an essay and video on Americanism. Community service involvement is also a factor when determining the recipient of the award.
