SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The runaway pig that captured the hearts of the internet after he was saved from the Big Sioux River has been put down. The piglet, named Eric Jr. by the Falls Park staff, was taken in by Happy Pig Haven Sanctuary on Saturday. The sanctuary had been posting updates on Eric Jr. progress, but let people know on Tuesday that he had to be put down due to health complications.

Woman Charged With Stealing State Funds For Foster Kids To Make First Court Appearance Thursday
PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Iowa woman accused of stealing over one-point-eight million dollars intended for the care of foster children in South Dakota is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Pierre to address those charges. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 68-year-old Lonna Carroll has been indicted on two counts of Aggravated Grand Theft. Carroll is a former Department of Social Services employee who retired to Iowa last year.
